Berlin NH (New Hampshire) Federal Prison Update March 18th 2009

Federal Prison located in Berlin, NH is nearly two-thirds done.

BERLIN, N.H. : A spokesman for the Bureau of Prisons says construction of the federal prison in Berlin, N.H., is nearly two-thirds done.

While work has slowed down because of the winter, Thomas Webber of the Bureau of Prisons says it will increase again as the weather gets warmer.

Earlier this month, the bureau hired Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. of Pasadena, Calif., to provide construction management services.

Webber said the contract is for 11 people, primarily estimators and inspectors.

The team of Bell Corporation and Heery International was selected in May 2007 to design and build the 1,150-bed prison. Site work got under way that fall.

Last summer, there were about 280 people working on the construction. Webber said construction is scheduled to be completed in September 2010.

For more information on the Federal Prison & homes located in and around Berlin, NH please don't hesitate to contact Matt Martel from RE/MAX Northern Edge Realty (603) 723-0521 or matthewmartel@remax.net

First time home buyer tax credit information

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act with an Enhanced Tax Credit
Provides Outstanding Opportunity for Home Buyers!

In its efforts to stimulate the economy and revive the housing market, Congress has enacted legislation providing a tax credit of up to $8,000 for first-time home buyers. Unlike the $7,500 Home Buyer Tax Credit enacted last year, this credit does not have to be repaid.

For this tax credit, time is of the essence for buyers who want to take advantage of this opportunity. Only homes purchased on or after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009 are eligible. While this has been called a "first time" home buyer's tax credit, its important to note that "first time" is defined as the purchaser (and purchaser's spouse) may not have owned a principal residence in 3 years previous to purchase.

Our Sales and Broker Associates at RE/MAX Northern Edge Realty are all well-versed in this tax credit and can assist you in your search to buy a home. Is this  a great time to buy - of course!

Berlin NH Youth Hockey: Mites are State Champions 2009!

As you may or may not know Berlin, NH is once again home to a Hockey Championship Team! The Berlin Sabres of the State of NH Youth Hockey Mites Division won the championship this past Sunday in Andover, NH. Berlin was strong all weekend winning all four games and only surrendering two goals all weekend.

The fan support for the team was outstanding and the crowd was made up of mostly the Berlin faithful.

As the team entered Berlin we were notified that we were going to be escorted by the Berlin Fire Department! The team was greeted by many friends & family, we all gathered and created a parade that included the team, parents & coaches. With BFD leading the way we traveled up Main Street and were welcomed by even more supporters! We arrived at the Notre Dame Arena and had a great celebration. The whole weekend was amazing and a great time for all.

Congratulations to the Berlin Sabres, State Champions 2009.

Special thanks to Joe Accardi!
