May 26th 2009. I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful couple from Virginia yesterday. They are looking to relocate/transfer to the Berlin, NH area to work at the Federal Prison. I have had the pleasure of meeting quite a few people who would like to relocate/transfer to the Federal Prison in Berlin, NH. Our office (RE/MAX Northern Edge Realty) continues to receive calls, emails & visits from all corners of the US about the prison.

05/16/2009: I took a ride into the prison area today. Work is coming along on time, no pictures were allowed so I cannot post any pictures. The location of the prison is amazing, great views of the mountain ranges and a clear shot of Mt. Washington.

The facility is a great distance from the road and is well landscaped. Work still needs to be done but it is coming along on schedule. Quite impressive.

 From the information I have received, hiring to begin in 6 months.

Date of opening: Fall of 2010.

I ask this question while I recruit. What is your main concern? Most if not all say "I'll leave all my listing's behind."  While this is true, they must realize that as the listing agent they have developed a relationship with the seller. Our business is based on relationships. With that being said, it may take sometime but that seller will come back to them where ever the agent hangs his/her license.

As far as concerns go, you do have to take risk to gain reward. I decided to quit my job of 20 years, no longer going to work nights & weekends. I decided to get my real estate liscense. My good friend had opened a RE/MAX Franchise in Berlin, NH and he wanted me to come aboard. I thought why not. Place a sign in a yard and sell homes, make money...I'm was in. After 5 years like most of you know it isn't that easy and you work hard!

I had no listings, I had no income, I had no insurance, no experience in real estate but I had to make it work and it has. I'm truly grateful.

So if your an agent and want to make a change but you don't want to leave those listings behind, don't be, go for it!
